Star West Indies batter Shai Hope is having his best possible form in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League. In the last league game of the tournament, Hope smashed an amazing century against the Barbados Royals. His amazing batting performance helped the Guyana Amazon Warriors win the game and stay on track ahead of the playoffs.
After winning the toss, Barbados skipper Rovman Powell opted to bowl first. His decision didn’t go well with the team, as Shai Hope and Kelvon Anderson added 132 runs for the third wicket. Anderson, in his innings, scored 47 runs off 39 balls with the help of two boundaries and a six. After their destructive start, not a single Guyana batter was able to score in double digits. However, they managed to push Guyana into a comfortable position as they posted a massive total of 226/7 in 20 overs. For Barbados, Obed McCoy and Jason Holder took two wickets each, while Akeem Jordan got a wicket too.
Barbados Royals failed to hold their nerve against GAW
The Guyana Amazon Warriors played like table toppers as they started with brilliant bowling performances. With their amazing efforts, the Barbados Royals were six down within 90 runs and lost the game. They didn’t try to fight against the quality spin attack and just surrendered against the tabel toppers.
It’s worth noting that it’s time for the playoffs in CPL 2023. In the eliminator game, the Saint Lucia Kings will face the Jamaica Tallawahs on Wednesday, September 20. Meanwhile, the Guyana Amazon Warriors will face the Trinbago Knight Riders in Qualifiers 1 on Thursday, September 21. The winner of the eliminator will then face the loser of Qualifier 1 in Qualifier 2 on Saturday, September 23.
