Watch: Sanju Samson hilariously fumbles during a stumping

The 63rd match of the Indian T20 League 2022 saw Rajasthan beat Lucknow by 24 runs. It was an absolutely clinical performance by the 2008-champions. With this victory, the Sanju Samson-led side have inched one step closer to the playoffs. This was their eighth victory in 13 games.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, the Rajasthan-based franchise scored 178-6 in the first innings. As for the second innings, Lucknow lost their first two wickets in the third over. Post which, Deepak Hooda walked in to bat, and looked really good. Despite the Lucknow-based franchise losing wickets at regular intervals, the 27-year-old stood strong.

He went on to score a half-century as well. However, the 16th over saw him being dismissed by Yuzvendra Chahal. His dismissal turned out to be a hilarious one. Hooda charged down the wicket but missed. After which, Samson collected the ball and looked all set to stump him without any issues. However, what could have been an easy stumping turned out to be a comedy of errors.

Samson failed to hit the stumps in his first attempt. He then managed to hit in his second attempt. Yet, he wasn't sure if he collected the ball cleanly and dislodged the bails. Thus, to be on the safer side, he uprooted one of the stumps.

An important point to be noted is that Hooda was simply watching all of this transpire, and didn't make an attempt to get back into the crease. Thus, this put an end to his fantastic innings. Hooda scored 59 off 39 balls, and struck five fours and two sixes. Apart from him, none of the Lucknow batters were able to get to a big score. Thus, they fell short of their target by 24 runs. Sanju Samson was mighty impressed with his troops, and appreciated them as well.

"We have been taking some good decisions. It is very hard to maintain a chilled out atmosphere when things don't go your way. Credit to the boys. You keep on losing here and there. We want to go out there and express ourselves as a batting unit. We have a quality bowling line up to defend," said Sanju Samson during the post-match presentation.
