Taking a hat-trick in cricket is tough. However, taking a double hat-trick is even harder. The 55th match between the Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Renegades in the ongoing Big Bash League 2021-22 saw Cameron Boyce pick a double hat-trick, and create history.

After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, the Finch-led side were all over the Sydney-based franchise, thanks to a special spell by Boyce. The 32-year-old picked his first wicket in the final delivery of the seventh over. He dismissed the dangerous Alex Hales for 44.

What followed was absolute mayhem. In the ninth over, the leggie picked three wickets in the first three balls to make it four wickets in four balls. Jason Sangha, Alex Ross and Daniel Sams were his victims. He thus became the first bowler to pick up a double hattrick in Big Bash League.

Post this, the Australian went on to pick another wicket and thus, took a memorable fifer in the match. In the first ball of the tenth over, he dismissed Matthew Gikes. This wasn't it as the Aussie spinner also affected a run out in the 17th over.

Out of his five dismissals, two of the batters were out LBW, one was stumped, and the other two were caught. In the meanwhile, Usman Khawaja starred with the bat in the first innings. The captain of Sydney Thunder scored an amazing 77 off just 51 deliveries.

His amazing effort propelled Thunder to 170. Ironically, it was the man of the moment Boyce, who ran him out. While the Khwaja led-side are currently placed third in the points table, the Renegades are placed at the bottom of the tournament. Renegades are out of the playoff race and will be keen to end the tournament on a high.
