On Sunday, May 7, a doubleheader marked the return of action in the sixteenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Gujarat Giants (GT) defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 56 runs in the day's opening match, solidifying their lead at the top of the standings with 16 points after 11 games. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) met in the second game of the day at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

Sanju Samson, the home team's captain, elected to bat first after winning the toss. They took advantage of the chance, amassing a massive total of 214/2. After contributing 54 runs to the opening partnership with Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 35 off 18 runs. Buttler, on the other hand, went on to score 95 runs off of 59 deliveries and was unfortunate not to have reached the century mark.

Sanju Samson eventually increased the score above 210 runs with an undefeated 66 off 38. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Marco Jansen finished their four overs for SRH with identical figures of 1/44. Other than that, not much could be said about SRH's bowling performance.

In response, SRH had a dramatic and adventurous run-chase. Sandeep Sharma's final delivery was a no-ball, and Abdul Samad's free smash reached the boundary to give SRH a four-wicket triumph. The final over was one to remember. Key players in a beautiful team effort included Anmolpreet Singh (33 off 25), Abhishek Sharma (55 off 34), Rahul Tripathi (47 off 29), Heinrich Klaasen (26 off 12), Glenn Philips (25 off 7) and Abdul Samad (17 off 7). Kuldip Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin each had one wicket while Yuzvendra Chahal returned with four wickets.

In the next match of the sixteenth Indian Premier League (IPL) season, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will meet the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the renowned Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The Mumbai Indians (MI) overcame the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at home by six wickets, and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) just secured a close victory over SRH at home.
