All the Indian fans were shocked when Virat Kohli was seen captaining RCB once again in the 27th match of the Indian Premier League 2023 against Punjab Kings (PBKS). Kohli, who left the command of the team after the 2021 season, was handed over the captaincy of the team against Punjab Kings. Actually, Virat Kohli led the team because RCB’s regular skipper Faf du Plessis had a rib injury and wasn’t able to field, however, he came to bat as an impact player.

Kohli was last seen captaining RCB on October 11, 2021, which was against Kolkata Knight Riders, where RCB had to face a defeat. But this time, the star Indian right-hander came as a lucky charm for RCB as he brought the 3rd win of the season for the franchise by defeating PBKS by 24 runs. It’d be interesting to see if the management will stick to du Plessis as their captain or if they will go with Kohli as he has now given them the winning momentum.

Meanwhile, talking about the match, PBKS won the toss and asked RCB to put runs on the scoreboard. Kohli opened with the impact player du Plessis and provided a blistering start to the team in the powerplay, smashing 59 runs in just 6 overs. However, Kohli started struggling after skipper Sam Curran brought spinners into the attack.

Kohli departed after scoring 59 runs but that came off 47 deliveries, which forced upcoming batters to hit from the very first ball due to which Glenn Maxwell registered a golden duck. Du Plessis showed some big shots in the end, but couldn’t finish the innings on a good note and RCB ended up scoring 174 runs in the first innings.

Chasing the target, Mohammed Siraj provided a wonderful start for RCB as he struck in the very first over of the second innings. PBKS kept losing wickets at regular intervals. After plucking wickets in the powerplay, Siraj came back in the death overs and picket two wickets again and took the Player of the Match award home as he helped RCB to get their third win of the season.
