The fans were left overjoyed when Rohit Sharma informed at the toss that skipper Virat Kohli is fit to play the ongoing second ODI against England. The former Indian skipper missed the first match of the series due to a groin injury. It became a talking point amidst his poor form with the bat.
Also, prior to the start of the second ODI, the BCCI announced India’s squad for the upcoming T20I series against West Indies. And, to everyone’s surprise, Virat Kohli missed out, which left the fans fuming. The board didn’t give any explanation behind Virat Kohli’s exclusion from the squad.
However, everyone breathed a sigh of relief when Virat Kohli’s name was there in India’s playing XI for the second ODI against England. The Indian batter hasn’t been in the best of forms. He hasn’t scored a hundred for nearly 3 years now. Amidst this, the former cricketer, Virender Sehwag pointed out similarities between Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar.
He stated that fans expect Virat Kohli to score centuries quickly as he used to hit centuries in every 3-4 games. The veteran cricketer added that the fans had similar expectations from Sachin Tendulkar during his playing days.
“I think everybody is waiting for a hundred from him, which hasn’t come for a long time. If you take a look at his past record, he used to score a hundred in every 3-4 matches. That hasn’t happened for some time now and maybe that is why there is so much talk about it. Hum bhi ek aise khiladi k saath khela karte the jinka naam Sachin Tendulkar hai. (we used to play with another such cricketer, whose name is Sachin Tendulkar),” Sehwag said on Sony Sports.
If he hadn’t scored runs for 3-4 innings, there used to be discussion used to reach a stage where it felt like he hadn’t scored for long. He also used to score in every 3-4 innings, the same is with Virat Kohli,” he added.
