“Kohli might just take retirement after the T20 World Cup. He may do that to extend his longevity in the other formats. If I was him I would have looked at the larger picture and taken a call,” said Akthar to India.com.

Speaking of the right-hander’s performance in the Asia Cup 2022, then he scored 276 runs in the five innings of the five matches. The Delhi batter scored runs with an amazing average of 92.00 having a century and two half-centuries on his credit. He ended up in the tournament as the second highest run-scorer just five runs behind the star Pakistani batter Mohammad Rizwan.

Now, the former skipper will be eyeing continuing his purple patch with the bat in the upcoming bilateral T20I assignments against Australia and South Africa respectively.

The Indian team didn’t have an expected outing in last year’s 20-20 World Cup as they were knocked out of the tournament after losing to New Zealand and Pakistan in the group round.

Indians are still waiting for the title triumph since MS Dhoni-led young Indian team won the inaugural edition of the 20-20 World Cup.
