Indian team locked horns with the arch-rivals Pakistan in the super-4 round of the Asia Cup 2022. The men in blue were coming off a win against Babar’s men in the group stage. This must-win match of super-4 also entered a very crucial situation as Pakistan lost five wickets and Asif Ali was there in the middle alongside Khushdil Shah.

Apart from the result and other actions of the match, what went viral from the match was the catch of Asif Ali dropped by the young Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh. Late on, the 25-year-old faced heavy criticism on social media and a fierce reaction from the skipper Rohit Sharma on the field as well. Everybody was figuring out since then what happened to Arshdeep later after the match.

Recently, former Indian skipper and senior batter Virat Kohli has come up with a statement on the incident and cleared the air on the whole issue. Kohli was in a private conversation with the senior Indian sports journalist Vimal Kumar.

Vimal Kumar went on to reveal on his YouTube channel the conversation with Kohli. The 33-year-old discussed the support from the fans for Arshdeep when he dropped that crucial catch at a very delicate juncture in the match.

“Regardless of the mistake being made, no player should go through the level of trolling and social media slander that Arshdeep had to go through. It only goes on to show that even though he is not wearing the captain’s hat anymore, his concern for the younger players has not deteriorated,” said Kohli.

Here’s the video posted by Vimal Kumar:

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma’s ill behavior with Arshdeep following the incident was recalled by Vimal Kumar in his video. Sharma was not looking happy with the MP-born youngster for a faulty moment in an unbelievably soft moment of the match.

Rohit Sharma was also seen ignoring Arshdeep in the aftermath of this incident, which didn’t go down well with a lot of Indian cricket fans, and they find it very rude of the Indian captain.
