Virat Kohli predicted something in 2015, the same has come true now

In an era where most of the teams struggle to win matches away from home, Virat Kohli’s team India is scripting history, winning match after match in some of the most challenging venues. And this comes from a team who carried the tag of being the home track bullies for over three decades. But this team is different. The captain is enthusiastic and the team complements him pretty well. Even if the situation is not in their favour, as in the case of Lords Test where England were way ahead of India going into Day 5, the team will never lose hope and somehow find a way to come out on top.

Former South Africa pacer Allan Donald has revealed that Virat Kohli once told him that India will soon become the no 1 Test team in the world. It was around that time when India were thrashed 4-0 in Australia and England and the team started undergoing transformation.

New players were drafted into the team and it started paying dividend for India with wins in West Indies, South Africa, and England. When the team settled in, series wins also started coming their way as India won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia in 2018-19 before repeating the feat earlier this year as well. Even in the matches they lost, the team was highly competitive.

"I remember Virat's words in 2015 when he said to me India will become world's No.1 Test team and he wasn't wrong," Donald said in a video on YouTube channel Cricket Life Stories.

"He knew where he was going. 

He said: 'I want this to be the fittest team, I want us to be the greatest team on the planet, knowing that we can play away from home, knowing we can beat anyone and that's going to take a very good bowling attack to do so.'"
