Marcus Stoinis, the Australian all-rounder had a decent run in the Indian T20 League where he helped the Lucknow team reach the Eliminator. They lost to Bangalore in the eliminator by 14 runs, but their maiden season could certainly be termed as a successful one. The Lucknow team gave a great fight to the competition in a season where successful teams languished at the bottom of the points table. The all-rounder scored 156 runs, and also took four wickets in the 2022 edition. Thus, he was instrumental to the success of the debutant franchise.

Recently, the right-handed batter has gone on to reveal that Virat Kohli is his favourite Indian player. While the Indian batter who has been going through a rough patch of form, he would certainly take it as a massive confidence boost and a source of support in a time like this.

In a video posted by the Lucknow-based franchise, the Australian cricketer was quoted as saying, "Virat Kohli is my favourite Indian batter". It was during a Q and A session.

India's ex-captain had a poor performance in the recently concluded Indian T20 League having made just 341 runs in 16 matches. It was however his paltry strike rate of 115.9 that raised most eyebrows. The once-great batter looked rusty throughout the season, and has been at the centre of speculation since then.

The 33-year-old's international form hasn't been great either. Having made more than 23,000 international runs, the century counter of the Delhi-born batter seems to have stopped altogether. His last century in international cricket came way back in November 2019 against Bangladesh. In the meantime, his opponents like Joe Root, Steve Smith and Babar Azam continue to pile up centuries itching closer and closer to the Indian batsman. Azam for example has been in a great reign of form having become the only batter to make three consecutive centuries twice!

Virat Kohli is currently given rest for the ongoing India-South Africa T20I series in hopes of finding his lost form. The Indian batter is slated to resume services in the rescheduled match against England on July 1. Meanwhile, Marcus Stoinis was last seen playing in the second of the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka.
