Former Indian skipper and senior batter Virat Kohli is all at the headlines of the media since his swashbuckling century against Afghanistan. He smashed 122 runs off just 61 balls with 12 boundaries and six massive sixes to his name. Notably, this international came for him after a long wait of 3 years since his last against Bangladesh in 2019.

Apart from the cricket on the field, Kohli’s stardom is also catching eyeballs on social media platforms as well. It can be said as the 33-year-old has recently crossed the mark of 50 million followers on the social media platform Twitter.

With achieving this feat, the Delhi-born batter has now become the first cricketer reach to the mark in terms of followers on Twitter.

Kohli ended up as the second-highest run-scorer in the recently-concluded Asia Cup 2022. He was just five runs behind the star Pakistani batter Mohammad Rizwan. The Indian right-hander scored 276 runs in five innings of the five matches with an outstanding average of 92.00 having a century and two half-centuries in his account.

He will be seen in action for the Indian team in the upcoming home T20I series against Australia commencing on the 20th of September next week.

Speaking of the Indian team’s performance in the 15th edition of the Asia Cup, then they got knocked out of the tournament after losing two consecutive matches in the super-4 round of the Asia Cup against Pakistan and then Sri Lanka. Although, the men in blue won the dead rubber against Afghanistan in the last match of their campaign in the tournament.

Recently, the selectors have also announced the squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022. Along with this, they have also picked the squads for the T20I assignments against Australia and South Africa respectively.
