The lack of trust pulled him out of what could have been a fantastic career. Cricketers rising up the ladder is nothing new for the current generation. After Indian T20 League started dominating, many youngsters from India have become rich overnight. However, there is another side to the story too.

Vinod Kambli was all good in cricket but outside of it. There were speculations and discussions that it was his character that cost him his career. Recently, in an interview with Mid-Day, the Mumbai born said that he and his family survive on a 30,000/- INR pension from the Indian cricket board. He added that it wasn't enough and was open to cricket-related assignments to improve his financial situation.

"I am a retired cricketer, who is completely dependent on the pension from the Indian cricket board. My only payment at the moment is from the Board, for which I am really thankful and grateful. It takes care of my family," Kambli said.

According to a report by MensXP, the former cricketer has been given a job outside cricket by a businessman in Mumbai. A businessman from Mumbai, Sandeep Thorat, has reportedly offered him a lakh per month. However, the former batter might have to work in the finance department of the Sahyadri Industry Group based in Mumbai.

It remains to see if the former cricketer would accept the job. He earlier said in the same interview with Mid-Day that he wants to work with Mumbai cricket. The 50-year-old was open to working on any assignment that is based on cricket. With a generous offer on his table, it is indeed up to the Mumbai born to take a call.
