Asia Cup 2022 is all set to kickstart from the 27th of August later this month. Sri Lanka and Afghanistan will play the inaugural match of the tournament. Whereas, arch-rivals India and Pakistan will face each other in the second match on the 28th of August. Six teams are participating in this continental tournament including one team from the qualifiers.

Speaking from the Indian perspective, the Indians have some excellent records in this tournament. It includes both batters and bowlers. So, here we’ll have a look at five popular Indian batters who have scored a century in the Asia Cup in either of the seasons.

Sachin Tendulkar

Former legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar has played a lot of matches in the Asia Cup. He made his last appearance in the 2012 Asia Cup when he completed his 100th century. Apart from the master blaster scored two centuries in this tournament. Tendulkar has participated in various seasons of the tournament since his debut 33 years later in 1989.

One of his two centuries in the Asia Cup came against Bangladesh in 2012 when he completed his 100th ton in international cricket. Apart from this, the little master has a total of 49 tons in ODI cricket alongside 51 centuries in Test cricket.

The former skipper and the senior batter is enduring a poor run of form with the bat for the last three years. He is waiting for his 71st international century since the last one he scored in November 2019 against Bangladesh in a Test match.

But this is not how things were there for Kohli, he has a brilliant batting record in the Asia Cup. The 33-year-old has scored the highest number of centuries for the Indian team in the Asia Cup as he has smashed 3 tons so far in the tournament.

The 36-year-old senior batter is proving his worth for the Indian team continuously in the white-ball format. Shikhar Dhawan has been in excellent form in the major international tournaments. Asia Cup is just one of those tournaments where Dhawan has shown his sheer elegance and amazing batting skills.

Speaking of the centuries in the Asia Cup 2022, then Dhawan smashed two tons in this tournament during the last edition. Notably, the southpaw finished the 2018 edition of the Asia Cup as the highest run-scorer of the tournament with an average of 68.40 in five matches.

The unparalleled batting great of India who gave an immense contribution in all formats of the game for the team. If any batter in India or the world was just behind Sachin Tendulkar, then he was none other than the wall of India, Rahul Dravid. The batting legend had some outstanding records in both Tests and ODIs.

Apart from this, he has also a century to his name in the Asia Cup. The 49-year-old scored this century 18 years back in 2004 against UAE when India completely dominated that match and won it comfortably in a one-sided manner.

Current regular skipper and senior batter of team India, Rohit Sharma is one of the batters in the history of Indian cricket. He is the only batter in the history of cricket who has scored three double centuries in ODI cricket. Apart from this, he has some excellent batting records to his name in international cricket.

Other than his records in international cricket, Rohit has also scored a century in the Asia Cup. He will be seen in the role of full-time skipper during the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 for the Indian team.
