Rohit Sharma speaks about captaining in World Cup (Source: Twitter)
At the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, MS Dhoni blasted Nuwan Kulasekara into the stands to win the 2011 World Cup 12 years ago today. The Apex Cricket Council has launched the brand identity for the forthcoming Men's WC 2023 and is focused on the supporters' feelings towards that game and triumph. With roughly six months until the start of the Men's World Cup 2023, the Apex Cricket Council has built it utilising "Navarasa," nine emotions spectators feel while watching the high-stakes sport.
The term "Navarasa," which is used in Indian theatre, has been reimagined in the context of cricket, using symbols and colour to represent the feelings fans have while experiencing the drama and excitement of a World Cup match: joy, power, anguish, respect, pride, bravery, glory, wonder, and passion, which are feelings that represent the reactions that a Cricket World Cup evokes.
'Will do our best to give us a chance to lift the trophy' – Rohit Sharma
He said, "With six months to go until the Men's Cricket World Cup 2023, the excitement is really starting to build. Playing a World Cup on home soil is every player's dream, even more so as captain, and I can't wait for it to start. The Men's Cricket World Cup is a very special event for everyone involved in cricket, and we will be doing everything over the next few months to prepare as best we can to give us the greatest chance to lift the trophy."
Indian Cricket Board Secretary Jay Shah said, "The Indian Cricket Board is looking forward to hosting the Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 and creating a memorable event for fans in India and worldwide. We cannot wait until October to see world-class cricket on show in the pinnacle event of the one-day game and for India to host an incredible spectacle."
Apex Cricket body Chief Executive Geoff Allardice says, "We are delighted to reveal the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 brand, showcasing the raw emotion and enjoyment that cricket brings to fans across the world through the Navarasa. We have an exciting six months ahead of us as we build up to deliver the biggest Cricket World Cup ever."
