Shahnawaz Dahani, a young Pakistani cricketer, publicly criticized the Pakistan Cricket Team's selection committee led by Inzamam-ul-Haq on social media. Dahani expressed frustration on Twitter after being omitted from the Asia Cup 2023 squad, slamming the selection committee.
“Not even a single journalist or cricket analyst even dared to ask questions or show these stats to selectors. #ripsportsjournalim,” wrote Dahani in one of his tweets from the official Twitter account.
Apart from this, he also hit back at the former Pakistan skipper Rashid Latif, who forgot Dahani’s name while tweeting the stats of the Pakistan pacers. “Seems as if Dahani is not a Pakistani pacer,” read Dahani’s tweet in response to Rashid Latif.
Shahnawaz Dahani deletes the tweets after getting reprimanded by PCB
However, the former skipper apologized for forgetting the young pacer’s name from the list. The Pakistan Cricket Board did not respond well to the 25-year-old right-arm pacer's social media actions.
A report in the PTI understands that PCB officials contacted Dahani and reprimanded him for taking the public stage to criticize the authorities controversially. Subsequently, both tweets were deleted by the pacer from his Twitter handle.
Notably, the Larkana-based pacer was also a part of the Pakistan Shaheens a couple of days back during the Men’s Emerging Asia Cup 2023. Pakistan-A won the tournament after defeating their arch-rivals, India in the final of the tournament. He played his last ODI for the national side of Pakistan more than a year ago in June 2022 last year.
