Pakistan Shaheens are currently busy playing the six-match ODI series against Zimbabwe Select in Zimbabwe. But, the series has been a disaster so far for the young players from Pakistan as after five matches, Zimbabwe Select were leading by 3-2.  So, all eyes were on the 6th match when they took on each other at Harare on 27 May 2023.

The young Men in Green were looking for a win to avoid a series loss while the Zimbabwe side were looking for a series win with another convincing victory over the visitors. Speaking of the match, Shaheens’s skipper, Kamran Ghulam won the toss and opted to bowl first. But, while fielding, they got involved in ball tampering and got penalised for five runs.

Shahid Afridi got accused of ball tampering in an ODI match against Australia in 2010

Speaking of the match, Zimbabwe Select scored a mammoth total of 387 runs for seven wickets in 50 overs. Craig Ervine scored 195 runs off 148 balls, including 22 fours and six sixes. Along with him, Innocent Kaia scored 92 runs off 79 balls, including 10 fours and three sixes. They both put up a partnership of 187 runs for the second wicket. In the end, Ryan Burl also smashed 31 runs off just 18 balls, including four fours. For Shaheens, both Mohammad Ali and Aamer Jamal took two wickets each. While both Mubasir Khan and Qasir Akram grabbed one wicket each.

It was a forgettable outing for Shahnawaz Dahani as he failed to take a single wicket despite conceding 105 runs in 10 overs. Along with such a poor blowing display, things became worse for fans with the allegation of ball tampering. However, it is not the first time that ball tampering incidents have happened in Pakistan cricket. In 2010, former Pakistan skipper, Shahid Afridi was handed a two T20 international match ban for ball tampering in an ODI match against Australia at WACA. Later, he also admitted his guilt and thus, fans are shocked to see such youngsters getting involved in such an unwanted thing in cricket.
