Chris Gayle is known as one of the most interesting characters on a cricket field when he is playing for any team all around the world. Despite playing for West Indies across all three formats, he has become an iconic player in franchise cricket. His swashbuckling ability to hit big sixes makes him apart from others.

However, he is yet to announce his retirement but Gayle last played for his country in November 2021. Now, as per quoted by PTI, Gayle has shared an update regarding his retirement as he said: "I haven't announced any official retirement. I'll still be playing some cricket, I'm in good shape". Listening to that, fans went crazy and shared their views on social media.

Fitness has never been an issue for this veteran batter. So, it will be interesting to see if he managed to make a comeback again for West Indies. Currently, West Indies are busy playing the ongoing 2023 ODI World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabawe. They have managed to qualify for the super six stage. But, as per the current scenario, they might struggle to qualify for the mega event that is set to take place in India later this year.

While speaking on the sidelines of the Indian Veteran Premier League launch, Gayle opened up about it and said: “West Indies’ performance in qualifiers upsetting. It is upsetting. I have been a part of Qualifiers before. Sad to be in such a situation. Things have not gone our way going into the Super Six. It is going to be tough. I will be very very disappointed not seeing the West Indies in the World Cup here in India”.

Speaking of his career, he has played 483 games for his country across all three formats. In those games, he has scored 19593 runs, at a strike rate of 77.22. He has also notched 105 fifties and 42 centuries.
