Najam Sethi, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has revealed that the concept of having Pakistan play its matches during the ICC Men's World Cup 2023 at a neutral site was never raised in any Apex Cricket Council session.

India will host the Cricket World Cup in October and November of this year, and Pakistan will host the Asia Cup in 2023. The Apex Cricket Council maintains no plans for the hybrid format, which would see Pakistan play its World Cup matches at neutral locations.

It was earlier reported that discussions could result in Pakistan playing its ODI World Cup matches in Bangladesh in 2023. The hybrid Asia Cup format was considered a possible resolution at the Apex Cricket Council meetings last week, despite India being the tournament's host and having strained political relations between the two nations. Pakistan is hosting the Asia Cup, although India will play its games elsewhere.

North India and Tamil Nadu are likely to host Pakistan's matches

However, another recent update surges and according to it, the Indian Cricket Board is planning to have all of Pakistan's 2023 World Cup matches at a maximum of two or three venues only. They want the team to avoid frequent travelling and have taken a few states into confidence. North India and Tamil Nadu are likely to host Pakistan.

In a statement to the media on Friday, Najam Sethi claimed that the Asia Cricket Council, which manages the Asia Cup, had received a suggestion to hold India's matches at a neutral site. Still, he refuted that the International Cricket Council had received any official proposals to this effect before the Cricket World Cup.

"At no stage during Thursday's media interaction did I give any reference to the Cricket Council or made any remarks on the Men's Cricket World Cup 2023, which is scheduled in October. This matter has not been mooted or discussed at any ICC forum so far," said Sethi in the statement as quoted by the Cricket Council.
