Chasing a 160-run total, Delhi didn’t start off too well. S Bharat, once again, got out early on the 2nd delivery he faced. Warner and Marsh, too, struggled early on. The duo couldn’t time the ball properly in the powerplay and could only manage to score 38 runs in the first six overs.

At the end of the first three overs, Marsh could only score 3 runs in 11 balls. However, he changed gears after that and tried to hit at least a boundary in an over. Warner, however, was still struggling at the other end.

Marsh’s attack didn’t put too much pressure on Warner and the latter was happy to play the role of a second fiddle. By the end of 10 overs, Delhi were at 76 for 1. Warner was also dropped by Buttler and was also bowled by Chahal but the bails didn’t come off. He was certainly riding his luck, today.

The duo accelerated quickly in the latter half and went on to stich a match-winning partnership of 144 runs to help the team keep the hopes alive for the playoffs. Mitchell Marsh batted beautifully and produce a match-defining knock of 89 runs in 62 balls. He got out in the 18th over but the game was done and dusted by then.

David Warner remained unbeaten till the end, scoring 52 runs in 41 balls. Rishabh Pant’s unbeaten 13 off 4 meant Delhi chased down the score with 11 balls remaining in the end.

Earlier, Rajasthan managed to score a competitive score of 160 runs on the board on a tricky pitch. They didn’t make a great start with the bat either, as both Jos Buttler (7 off 11) got out early without making a substantial contribution. The star batter for Rajasthan in the last game, Yashasvi Jaiswal could only score 19 in as many deliveries.

Coming it at number three, Ravichandran Ashwin, however, held firm at one end and did the task of rebuilding the innings. He went on to score his first half-century in the tournament before Marsh got him out in the 15th over.

The likes of Sanju Samson (6 off 4) and Riyan Parag (9 off 5) failed to hit the straps. However, Devdutt Padikkal gave the team the much-needed impetus. His 30-ball 48 helped the team reach a competitive score at the end of the first innings. In the end, it proved 20-run short.

For Delhi Capitals, Chetan Sakariya was brilliant with his lengths. He returned with figures of 2 for 23 in 4 overs. Besides, Nortje and Marsh too picked 2 wickets each but were expensive.
