The Indian T20 League 2022 is currently underway and the fans have witnessed some thrilling contests thus far this season. At the time of writing, as many as 27 matches have been conducted so far.
Playing its debut season, Gujarat are comfortably sitting at the top of the points table, followed by the likes of Lucknow, Bangalore, and Rajasthan at second, third, and fourth position respectively.
Surprisingly, two of the most successful teams in the history of the competition, Chennai and Mumbai have occupied the bottom two spots on the points table. While Chennai have managed to secure only one win, Mumbai, on the other hand, are yet to open their account in the tournament.
In the ongoing edition, we have witnessed some outstanding individual performances. A lot of young Indian talented stars grabbed headlines with some sensational performances.
Amidst that, some of the experienced Indian campaigners who were once a part of the Indian white-ball setup have also exhibited telling performances. In this article, we have shortlisted three such Indian players who deserve a chance to make a comeback to the Indian Team.
Three Players who deserve a comeback to the Indian side:
- Umesh Yadav
Umesh Yadav didn’t play a single game in the last edition of the Indian T20 League. However, Kolkata trusted in his abilities and bought him for his base price of INR 1 crore. Contrary to everyone’s expectations, Yadav has impressed one and all with his sensational bowling exploits so far this season.
He has been bowling at great lengths and getting the ball to move both ways in the power play. He even looked completely unplayable in a couple of matches. Umesh Yadav has consistently picked wickets for Kolkata in the power play overs and is currently their highest wicket-taker.
In 6 matches, he has managed to pick 10 wickets at 16.30. Umesh Yadav could make a return to India’s white-ball setup if he continues to perform well throughout the tournament.
2. Dinesh Karthik
Playing for a new franchise in Bangalore this season, Dinesh Karthik has looked like a completely different batsman. He has made a vast improvement in his game and is currently looking in sublime touch. He has don the role of a finisher in the side and is doing the role with utmost perfection.
Karthik has provided played some promising knocks while at lower down the order. He has taken the team out of trouble from tough situations already on a few occasions and helped them post formidable totals on the board. Despite batting lower down the order, he is currently Bangalore’s highest run-getter.
In 6 matches, he has managed to score 197 runs at an average of 197.
3. Shivam Dube
Shivam Dube began his Indian T20 League journey with Bangalore. He couldn’t make a significant impact with the bat during his stint. Last year, he played for Rajasthan and managed to play a few notable knocks with the bat. This season, Dube has showcased his true potential while playing for Chennai.
The franchise trusted in his ability by sending him up in the batting order. Dube, thus far, has lived up to all the expectations. In his last game for Chennai, he played a sensational knock of 95 runs in 46 balls, helping the team register their first win this season. Dube is currently the fifth-highest run-getter, having managed to score 207 runs in 5 matches at 51.75.
