Although, the Men in Blue continued their dominance in bilateral series, registering series wins against the likes of West Indies, Australia, England, etc. Virat Kohli broke his century drought in international cricket and returned to form at the 2022 World Cup 2022.

The year also saw the emergence of Suryakumar Yadav, who has, recently, been appointed as the vice-captain of India’s T20I team for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka. Amidst that, there have also been players who failed to make an impact and aren’t likely to get chances again.

On that note, here’s a look at three Indian players who might not get another chance to play for India next year.

Jayant Yadav was seen playing for India in Test Cricket this year. He made his Test debut in 2016 against England. Overall, he has played 6 Tests in his career and has picked 16 wickets at 29.1. However, with the emergence of the likes of Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav, Jayant Yadav isn’t likely to get more chances for the Indian team going ahead.

2. Dinesh Karthik

Courtesy of a sensational outing for the Bangalore franchise at the 2022 edition of the Indian T20 League, Dinesh Karthik was rewarded with an India call-up ahead of the 20-20 World Cup.

He donned the role of the finisher in the tournament but failed miserably with the bat. Karthik couldn’t make the most of the opportunities provided to him and this, surely, is the end of his international cricket career.

1. Ajinkya Rahane

Ajinkya Rahane last played an ODI in the year 2018 and T20I in the year 2016. Since then, he only played in Test Cricket. Poor performances in the longest format for a significant period meant Ajinkya Rahane lost his Test cap after South Africa’s tour in 2022.

In his absence, Shreyas Iyer has performed admirably and has become a vital cog in the Test team. With a lot of other young cricketers waiting patiently for their chances, Rahane is unlikely to make a comeback.
