The India team will play the postponed fifth Test match against England starting from 1st to 5th July in Birmingham. It was meant to be played last September but the series had to be postponed due to Covid-19 cases in the Indian camp. India are currently leading the series by 2-1 and they will be looking to seal the series with a win. A lot has changed for the team in the last few months.

The team has gone through a captaincy change across formats. The team who did well in the series couldn't carry their form in the South Africa tour. Also, the vice-captain at the time has now lost his place in the team due to string of failures with the bat. In this listicle, we will discuss the three players who might not feature in the playing XI due to lack of form.

Players who might not feature

  1. Rishabh Pant

The first choice wicketkeeper batter had a horrendous time with the bat against South Africa in the recently concluded series. The left-hander cold only score 58 runs in five games at an average of 14.50. On the contrary, he was in a decent form with 340 runs in 14 games at an average of 30.91. He was troubled by the opposition bowlers bowling way outside the off stump.

2. Shreyas Iyer

The right-hander has been troubled badly by the pacers with short-pitched balls. This happened with him in the Indian T20 League 2022 and the series against South Africa. England do have a bunch of world class pacer such as Stuart Broad to exploit the weakness with his height, pace, and bounce. There is quite possibility that he might not get to play against spinners which is why he won't be part of the playing XI.

The right-arm pacer had a bad Indian T20 League 2022 with the ball. He found it hard to hit the right lengths and was plundered by the batters. Readers might suggest that he went on a break after the tournament but he didn't had much game time.

The team has the option of playing Prasidh Krishna, who has been in good form in the last few months. Thus, Siraj might not play the fifth Test.
