When it comes to the ongoing 15th edition of the Indian T20 league, things haven't really gone according to plan for the Mumbai-based franchise. They have lost both their games and are still searching for their first win of this edition. Several analysts and experts have criticized the Rohit Sharma-led side for their performance so far in this season.
Their next game is slated to take place against Kolkata on April 6. If Mumbai are to get back to the groove, then they need to make a few changes to their side. Today, we shall be taking a look at three changes Mumbai need to do to get back to winning ways.
1) Suryakumar Yadav for Anmolpreet Singh:
Suryakumar Yadav has been one of Mumbai's best batters for quite a while now. There is a reason why the franchise decided to retain him ahead of the mega auction. He provides the "X Factor", and has a knack to play the counter-attacking game.
In 115 Indian T20 league games, he has scored 2341 runs at an average of 28.9. This includes a healthy strike rate of 135.71. As for Anmolpreet Singh, he hasn't really been able to set the stage on fire. Besides, SKY is fit, and available for Mumbai's upcoming game.
2) Jaydev Unadkat for Basil Thampi:
Basil Thampi was superb during Mumbai's first game against Delhi. However, the second game saw him give 26 runs in one over. The demerit of having Thampi in the side is that he can be expensive when it isn't his day.
When it comes to Jaydev Unadkat, then the pacer has significantly improved. He displayed his skills with the new ball during the previous edition. Sharma can always complete his full quota of four overs early on, and leave the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Tymal Mills for the final few overs.
3) Fabian Allen for Daniel Sams:
Daniel Sams has been a liability for Mumbai so far in the tournament. His final over during their game against Delhi changed the fate of the match. Besides, he went for 57 runs in his four overs. During the game against the Rajasthan-based franchise, Sams gave 32 runs in his four overs, without picking a wicket.
He wasn't impressive with the bat either. On the other hand, Fabian Allen is a match-winner. Moreover, Mumbai don't have a spinner other than Murugan Ashwin in their XI. Last but not the least, Allen has the ability to hit the ball a long way as well.
