Mumbai, over the years, has unearthed some sensational Indian talents. Playing for the franchise, these very players have made a name for themselves and played a vital role in Mumbai’s success in the tournament. In the ongoing edition, the franchise, yet again, seemed to have scouted another talented cricketer, Tilak Varma.

The 19-year old batter from Hyderabad has announced his arrival in the Indian T20 League with two solid knocks in the first two matches for Mumbai. The southpaw played a short little 15-ball 22-run cameo in the first game against Delhi. Come the next match, Varma exhibited his batting prowess with an outstanding 33-ball 61-run knock against Rajasthan.

Mumbai would be pretty pleased with how Tilak Varma has started his campaign. Apparently, the Mumbai batter doesn't own a house. In a recent interaction with Cricbuzz, he revealed that he plans to buy a house for his parents.

“Growing up, we’ve had a lot of financial difficulties. My father with his meagre salary had to look after my cricket expenses as well as my elder brother’s studies. In the last few years, with some sponsorship and match fees, I could just about take care of my cricketing expenses,” Varma was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

“We don’t own a house as yet. So with whatever I have earned in this IPL, my only aim is to get a house for my parents. This IPL money gives me the luxury to play freely for the rest of my career,” he added.

For the unversed, Tilak Varma was bought for INR 1.9 crores by Mumbai at the Mega Auction. The franchise though hasn’t made a great start to their campaign. They have lost both the games played thus far in the tournament. Rohit Sharma and Co. are slated to play their next match against Kolkata on Wednesday at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
