In the 10th match of the Women’s T20 League, the table toppers, the Mumbai franchise locked horns against the UP side at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, March 12. The Mumbai franchise won the game by eight wickets and Harmanpreet Kaur was awarded the Player of the Match for her brilliant performance with the bat.

The UP franchise skipper Alyssa Healy won the toss and elected to bat first. They brought back in South Africa veteran pacer Shabnim Ismail in place Grace Harris and Mumbai side brought in Dhara Gujjar in place of star India all-rounder Pooja Vastrakar.

Batting first, UP scored 159 runs for the loss of six wickets in their quota of 20 overs. The top scorers for the side was Healy, with 58 runs off 46 balls, which included eight boundaries and Australian all-rounder Tahila McGrath, who scored 50 runs off 37 balls with nine fours at a strike rate of over 135.

For the Mumbai franchise, the pick of the bowlers, was, once again, young left-arm spinner from India, Ishaque, who is the leading wicket-taker of the tournament as well. She took three wickets in her spell of four overs and conceded 33 runs.

Two wickets were snapped by New Zealand off-spinner Ameila Kerr and one wicket was bagged by West Indies all-rounder Hayley Matthews.

While chasing a target of 160, the Mumbai openers, Yahtika Bhatia and Matthews, provided a solid start to their side. Both of them put together a partnership of 58 runs from 41 balls. But, both the batters were dismissed at a score of 58 runs in the gap of four balls. Bhatia was dismissed by Rajeshwari Gayakwad and Matthews was dismissed by Sophie Ecclestone.

After the fall of two quick wickets, the Mumbai skipper Kaur, along with England all-rounder, Nat Sciver-Brunt held Mumbai innings. They both together took the side to the victory by stitching a match-winning partnership of 106 runs from 63 balls.

Kaur scored an unbeaten knock of 53 runs off 33 balls, which included nine fours and a six at a strrike rate of over 160, while Sciver-Brunt played a supporting role to Kaur, scoring 45 runs off 31 balls with six boundaries and a six at a strike rate of over 145.
