Gujarat have been superb in the Indian T20 league 2022. In what happens to be their debut season, the Hardik Pandya-led side already looks like a force to reckon with. They have won their first three games of this edition, and are yet to face a defeat.

Rahul Tewatia has been one of the major reasons for the same as he played the role of a finisher to perfection in two games. Gujarat's latest game against Punjab saw the all-rounder hit two sixes in the last two balls of the game to win it for his side. He has made it a habit to snatch victories for his side out of nowhere.

After the completion of the game, Tewatia stated that there wasn't much to think about in the last over, and they had to hit every ball. He also said that he premeditated what Odean Smith would bowl to him. He also drew light on Gujarat's dressing room environment.

"It feels good when the game is won. There wasn't a lot to think in the final over, we just had to hit sixes and that's what me and David (Miller) were talking about. I knew (on the last-ball six) that it had gone off the middle of the bat, so it would clear the fence. I did premeditate, felt he (Odean) bowl wide outside off to me, premeditated and it executed well for me. The dressing room is really chilled. Ashu Bhai (Nehra), Gary Kirsten and the support staff have done a really good job. We're just told to execute the plans well and backed well," said Rahul Tewatia.

In the meanwhile, Gujarat's skipper Pandya was impressed with his troops. He went on to praise Tewatia, Pandya then sympathized with Punjab, and stated that this was completely their game.

"With the kind of ups and downs that happen, I have become neutral. Hats off to Tewatia. It is difficult to go out there and hit, and to do it under this pressure is great. It was Punjab's game, I have sympathy for them. Gill is telling everybody that he is there. A lot of credit goes to Sai as well for that partnership. It kept us in the game. I am going to get better with every game. I am getting tired as I'm not used to bowling four overs. But I'm getting better," said Hardik Pandya during the post-match presentation.
