Former Indian skipper and senior batter Virat Kohli has surpassed the former Aussie great Ricky Ponting as the former scored 72nd century in his international career for India. The 34-year-old has scored this century in the ongoing third and last ODI of the three-match series against Bangladesh.

Notably, it is also the 42nd century of Virat Kohli in the 50-over format. He is now only behind the former legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar who smashed 49 centuries in ODI cricket.

The ardent Kohli fans have also gone overwhelmed by this amazing century from the veteran Delhi batter. They took to Twitter to come up with various reactions and also hailed the veteran of more than 12,000 runs for his brilliant knock.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to Virat Kohli’s 42nd century:

Talking about the current scenario of the ongoing match between India and Bangladesh, the visitors have posted a total of 409 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 50 overs. Ishan Kishan has smashed the fastest double century in the history of ODI cricket. He played a knock of 210 runs off 131 balls with 24 boundaries and 10 sixes to his name.

Other than him, Virat Kohli also played a knock of 113 runs off 91 balls with 11 boundaries and two sixes on his credit. Apart from Ishan Kishan and Virat Kohli, lower-order batter and all-rounder Washington Sundar also displayed a short cameo of 37 runs off 27 balls with four boundaries and a six to his name.

Although the Indian team also faced a collapse at the end of the innings as they lost their nine wickets in the span of only 104 runs and got restricted to the score of 409 runs.

Taskin Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain, and Shakib Al Hasan scalped two wickets each for Bangladesh alongside one wicket each taken by Mustafizur Rahman and Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

Now, Bangladesh requires 410 runs in 50 overs to win the match and achieve the feat of a clean sweep in the series against India.
