Mumbai registered their fourth win of the season after beating Delhi by 5 wickets on Saturday at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. They are still languishing at the bottom but ruined Delhi's hopes of reaching the playoffs. The win also means that Bangalore become the fourth team to reach the playoffs. Faf du Plessis and Co. will now play the Eliminator match against Lucknow on Wednesday at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Chasing a 159-run total, Mumbai didn't make a great start. Rohit Sharma struggled throughout his stay at the crease and was eventually got out after scoring 2 runs in 13 balls. Ishan Kishan, though, was looking solid, on the other end.

At the end of the powerplay, Mumbai had only managed 27 runs on the board. D Brewis came at number three and joined hands with Ishan Kishan. The duo didn't allow Delhi to pick a wicket until the first half of the innings.

Kuldeep Yadav, eventually, had Ishan Kishan in the 12th over as the southpaw got out after scoring 48 runs in 35 balls. But, Rishabh Pant and Co. couldn't pick wickets in a cluster. Spinners didn't bowl at the right areas and had to pay the price for that.

D Brewis (37 off 33) and Tilak Varma (21 off 17) both played crucial knocks. However, it was Tim David, once again, who played an outstanding knock with the bat. He turned the game, singlehandedly, with a sensational 11-ball 34-run knock in the latter half of the innings. Shardul Thakur had him in the 18th over but the Mumbai batter had done his job by then. Mumbai, eventually, chased down the score in 19.1 overs.

Earlier, Delhi managed a reasonable score of 159 runs in the first innings. The pitch was a bit slow and had assistance for the spinners. However, before the spinners could arrive, Delhi lost Warner (5 off 6) and Mitchell Marsh (0 off 1).

Jasprit Bumrah wreaked havoc with the ball in the power play. He had Mitchell Marsh caught behind on his very first ball. In his next over, he got rid of Prithvi Shaw (24 off 23) with, arguably, the best ball of this season.

By the end of the power play, Delhi had lost 3 wickets for just 31 runs on the board. Sarfaraz Ahmed couldn’t stay for too long either as Mayank Markande had him caught behind in the 8th over. Delhi were struggling to score boundaries in the first half of the innings and were reeling at 55 for 4 in the first 10 overs.

However, Rishabh Pant and Rovman Powell tried to rebuild the innings. The duo added 51 runs in the next five overs and brought the team back into the game. Rishabh Pant was playing cautiously till that stage. However, he got out just when he looked like changing the gears in the 16th over off Ramandeep after scoring 39 off 33 balls.

However, Rovman Powell played till the 19th over and scored a valuable knock of 43 runs in 34 balls. Axar Patel also contributed 19 runs in 10 balls to take the team to competitive score of 159 runs at the end of the first innings. For Mumbai, Jasprit Bumrah starred with the ball, picking 3 for 25 in 4 overs.
