Suryakumar Yadav is currently busy playing for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the ongoing IPL. However, he had a poor start to the tournament as Suryakumar scored 66 runs in the first five matches, including one duck. But, after that, in the last four matches, he has shown some blistering form with the bat.

In the last four innings, this MI batter has scored 201 runs, including three fifties. Hence, as of now, he has 267 runs in nine matches, at a strike rate of 184.14. Meanwhile, he came to the tournament with a dismal form with the bat. In the recent Test series against Australia, he played just one match and scored just eight runs. Then, in the three-match ODI series, he registered three consecutive golden ducks.

So, his fans were worried to see him with such a poor run of form. As a result, he also got dropped from the announced WTC final squad for Team India which will play against Australia at the Oval, from 7 to 11 June 2023. But, now reports have come out that, Suryakumar Yadav is most likely to be a stand-by option for the WTC final. It seemed that the selectors have gone impressed seeing him back in form. Now, regarding that, fans have shared their views on social media. KL Rahul has already got ruled out of the ongoing IPL due to the injury that he sustained while fielding against RCB.

Now, his scan reports will further decide his participation in the WTC Final. But, as of now, it is most likely that he is going to miss the final. So, this MI batter can be a good option to have in the middle order. An India Cricket Board source, close to this development, said: “While it hasn’t been officially decided as yet, Surya was recently been told to keep his UK visa ready.” However, reports also suggested that along with him, some other players will be on the standby list and those are Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sarfaraz Khan, Ishan Kishan, Mukesh Kumar, and Navdeep Saini.
