Star Chennai player ruled out of Indian T20 League 2022: Reports

The ongoing Indian T20 League 2022 hasn't really been kind to Ravindra Jadeja. After being handed over the captaincy responsibilities ahead of the commencement of the tournament, he wasn't able to live up to the hype. Under his leadership, the defending champions lost six out of their first eight games.

After which, Jadeja handed over the captaincy back to MS Dhoni. Besides, he couldn't feature in their recent game against Delhi as he wasn't fit. The southpaw suffered an injury during Chennai's Chennai's against Bangalore. However, In what comes as a major setback for him and the yellow army, Jadeja is reportedly ruled for the remaining part of the 2022 edition.

According to a report by The Times Of India, the all-rounder's injury was assessed by the Chennai camp, and it, unfortunately, hasn't gotten better. As the business end of the tournament isn't too far away, the team management wouldn't want to take any risks by playing him. Besides, the Chennai-based franchise are just one loss away from getting knocked out of the tournament.

It is to be noted that the four-time champions have won four out of their 11 games as of now, and are currently placed ninth on the points table. While they need to win their remaining two games, they would also hope for a few results to go their way. Chennai can only get to 14 points.

Thus, they wouldn't want the likes of Rajasthan and Bangalore to win another match, as they would then get to 16 points. Chennai are scheduled to play Mumbai on May 12. Considering the fact that the Rohit Sharma-led side are placed at the bottom of the points table, the Chennai-based franchise would want to beat them by a big margin.

As for Jadeja, there hasn't been any official statement from the franchise or him. Meanwhile, he hasn't really been at his best in this edition. He has struggled with both, the bat, as well as the ball. Jadeja has only been able to score 116 runs in 10 games. When it comes to his performance with the ball, he has only picked five wickets in this season.
