After winning two consecutive games, Mumbai suffered their 9th defeat in the ongoing season on Monday. Despite Jasprit Bumrah’s heroic spell, they couldn’t chase down the 166-run target. Mumbai were bundled out for a paltry score of 113 runs. Suryakumar Yadav’s absence is likely to hurt them badly in the coming games.

Players to watch out for:

  1. Ishan Kishan
Advertisment

Ishan Kishan has been looking in great touch. He has played some impactful knocks this season and his recent form inspires a lot of confidence. He played a handy knock of 51 runs in 43 balls in the last match against Kolkata and is the second-highest run-getter for the franchise this season. His strike rate, though, remains a concern.

  1. Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah exhibited his best bowling figures in his Indian T20 League career. In the last game against Kolkata, he returned with outstanding bowling figures of 5 for 10 in 4 overs. He would be brimming with confidence. His four-over spell would be crucial to the team’s fortune against Chennai.

  1. Tim David

Tim David got out cheaply in the last match against Kolkata but left everyone in awe with his ball-striking display in a couple of games prior to the last game. With Kieron Pollard not in the best of form, David will have the responsibility to finish the game well for the team.

Probable Playing XI:

Ishan Kishan (wk), Rohit Sharma (c), Tilak Varma, Tim David, Kieron Pollard, Ramandeep Singh , Daniel Sams, Murugan Ashwin, Kumar Kartikeya, Jasprit Bumrah, Riley Meredith

Chennai:

Chennai’s hopes of reaching the playoffs are still alive. They registered a massive 91-run win over Delhi in their last game and would be looking to replicate a similar performance against Mumbai as well.

Chennai, notched a mammoth score of 208 runs against Delhi, thanks to crucial knocks from Gaikwad, Conway, and Dube. A collective bowling effort helped them bundle out Delhi for just 117 runs in the second innings.

Players to watch out for:

  1. Devon Conway

Devon Conway’s inclusion in the playing XI has helped CSK turn their fortunes around this season. Conway has been outstanding since making his comeback in the playing XI. Conway has hit three consecutive fifties and helped the team win two games as well. He played a match-winning knock of 87 runs in 49 balls and would be looking to continue his good run.

  1. Ruturaj Gaikwad:

The Chennai opener too is looking in solid touch. He is amongst the runs and is expected to put in a good show with the bat against Mumbai. He played a handy knock of 41 runs in 33 balls in the last match.

  1. Moeen Ali

Moeen Ali could only score 9 runs in 4 balls with the bat in the last game but bowled a crucial spell of 3 for 13 in 4 overs. His all-round potential is going to prove handy for the side, heading into the next match against Mumbai.

Probable Playing XI:

Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Robin Uthappa, Ambati Rayudu, Moeen Ali, MS Dhoni (c & wk), Shivam Dube, Dwayne Bravo, Maheesh Theekshana, Simarjeet Singh, Mukesh Choudhary

Pitch Report:

The 59th match of the Indian T20 League 2022 is scheduled to be played between Mumbai and Chennai at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The pitch has adequate bounce and is ideal for batting. A high-scoring contest is on the cards and one could expect the batsmen of both sides to hit a lot of fours and sixes. Anything between 180 and 200 should be a good score here. Both teams should bowl first upon winning the toss.
