Social media influencer Sapna Gill lodges police complaint against Prithvi Shaw

Prithvi Shaw, star batter for India, has made news recently, but not for good reasons. The Mumbai-based hitter and socialite Sapna Gill got into a physical altercation last month. The fans are divided after a video of his confrontation with Sapna and her partner went viral on social media. As the video went viral, Mumbai police detained Gill; however, they later released her after questioning her, and all parties agreed to end the conflict.

The actress has now filed a criminal FIR against Shaw under several sections of the Indian Criminal Code; however, due to recent developments. According to rumours, Gill has requested that Prithvi Shaw and his pal Ashish Surendra Yadav be named in a police report. Significantly, the Andheri Magistrate Court filed an FIR against an Indian batter under sections 354, 509, and 324 of the IPC in response to Gill's request.

'He touched me inappropriately' – Sapna Gill

According to the complaint's attorney, the 23-year-old batter is accused of hitting Sapna Gill with a bat in February 2023. Additionally, he mentioned that Gill had offered a medical certificate from a government hospital to back up her claims. Gill added that Shaw had inappropriately touched her. Incidentally, Gill has lodged a further grievance against Airport Police for Prithvi Shaw's complaint being lodged despite numerous pleas.

Prithvi Shaw is participating in the 16th season of the Indian Premier League while running out of the national team. He has struggled in his first two games while with the Delhi Capitals. Shaw needs to score runs in the current competition if he wants to rejoin the national squad. Former Indian batter Virender Sehwag confronts Shaw with reality and advises him to take advice from his teammates, including Shubman Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad. In a statement to the media, Sehwag stated:

"He has been dismissed playing those kinds of shots so many times… but he should also learn from his mistakes, right?" Sehwag said. "Look at Shubman Gill, who played U-19 cricket with him and is now playing Test, ODIs, and T20Is for India, but Shaw is still struggling in IPL. He has to make the most of this IPL platform and score runs."
