Shoaib Akhtar takes his words back after his comments that India would not qualify for finals

Former legendary Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar, who is known for his controversial or headline-making statements during his analytic remarks on the cricket team or players, has once again come up with a u-turn from his previous remarks that he made a few days back following the miserable performance from Pakistan in first two matches of the tournament.

During his critique remarks for the men in green, the 47-year-old took the extra mile to use cursing remarks for the Indian team as well. But following the surprising results from the Sunday encounter between the Netherlands and South Africa following Pakistan’s win against Bangladesh, Akhtar came up with a hope to see India-Pakistan into the finals of the tournament.

“They have proved me wrong. Pakistan wasn’t eliminated from the first round itself. Thanks to the Netherlands. Badi meharbani, apka bahut shukriya. (We are grateful to you). South Africans, you have lived it up. I am not going to say this word, but you have lived it up. And you have proved that you had the tournament on the platter, and you let it go,” said Akhtar in a recent video on his YouTube channel.

Later on, the fastest-ever bowler of the game came up with the hope to meet India in the finals of the tournament.

“Hume apse dubara Milna hai, ab depend on Karta hai India Kaise khelna Chahta hai(we want to meet you again in the final, now it depends how India plays),” he added later.

“Ab dekhte hai Pakistan kya karta hai, ye na ho ki India wapas aa rahi hai ek flight me, dusri flight me Pakistan bhi wapas na aa rahi ho…ye na ho!”(Let’s see, how Pakistan fares. It shouldn’t be that India comes back after losing the semi-final against England with Pakistan also returning in the next flight.)

“I want to see India-Pakistan final aur isme sabse zyada mazza pata hai kisko ayega? ICC and the broadcasters.” (I want to see an India-Pakistan final, and it will be the broadcasters and ICC who will be making the most of it,” concluded Akhtar.

Talking about Akhtar’s extremely critical remarks for both the South Asian teams a few days back, he could be seen backing his prediction of Pakistan’s elimination from the first round. Later, he said that India will also be eliminated from the tournament after playing the knockouts.

“Mai pehle bhi keh chuka tha ki Pakistan is hafte wapas aa jayegi, aur agle hafte India wapas aa jayegi. Wo(India) bhi semi-final khel ke wapas aa jayegi. Wo bhi koi Tees Maar Khan nahi hai.” (I said earlier that Pakistan would be back home this week. India will be back next week. They are not such a great team, they will be back after losing the semi-final,” said Akhtar following the shocking defeat of Pakistan against Zimbabwe by a close margin of only one run.
