Shoaib Akhtar predicts a Pakistan player who can fetch big bucks in the Indian T20 league auction

Babar Azam is arguably one of the greatest batters of this era. However, his records in the shortest format of the game are on a completely different level. He had made it a habit to score runs for fun in T20Is.

Besides, he led Pakistan to the semi-final during the T20 World Cup 2021. However, it is an absolute pity that he doesn't feature in the Indian T20 league. However, Shoaib Akhtar feels that he could earn a fortune if he were playing in the cash-rich league.

He said that it would be great to watch Azam and Virat Kohli play together in an Indian T20 league game someday. While speaking to Sportskeeda, he felt that the Pakistan captain could fetch at least INR 15-20 crore. Further on, he said that Azam would turn out to be the costliest Pakistan player in the auction.

“It would be great to see Babar Azam and Virat Kohli opening the innings together in the ITL one day. What an exciting moment that would be. In the auction, Babar would go for 15-20 crore INR and could be the most expensive Pakistan player,” said Shoaib Akhtar.

It is to be noted that Pakistan players haven't featured in the Indian T20 league since 2008. Prior to that, players like Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Sohail Tanvir and Akhtar himself were a part of this league. As a matter of fact, Tanvir was the leading wicket-taker during the inaugural edition of the Indian T20 league.

As far as Azam's T20I record is concerned, then he has scored 2620 runs in 73 games in this format of the game. His batting average and strike rate are 45.17 and 129.13 respectively. This includes 25 fifties and a hundred. An important point to be noted is that te leads his team and thus, would have been in huge demand if he were available to play the Indian T20 league
