Shivam Dube reveals the reason behind his improved game

After a dismal start to their campaign in the Indian T20 League 2022, Chennai has finally returned to winning ways in their last match against Bangalore. The men in yellow recorded their first win of the tournament defeating Bangalore by 23 runs.

Chennai posted a massive total of 216 runs in their 20 overs against Bangalore. Chennai’s middle-order batter Shivam Dube played an absolute destructive knock of 95 runs from 46 deliveries and was one of the reasons that Chennai was able to put such a huge score on the board. His brilliant batting exploits earned him the Player of the Match award. During the post-match presentation, Dube revealed that it was the former skipper of the Chennai team, MS Dhoni who helped him improve his game. He also said that conversations with the seniors on the team also helped him a lot. Notably, Dube was partnered by Robin Uthappa who scored 88 runs off 50 deliveries in the match.

Dube said – “I spoke to my seniors- Mahi Bhai also helped me to improve the game. Just be focused, just be still, just let the skill work in the game. I wanted to time the ball well. I tried to maintain my balance.”

The left-hand batter of Chennai has often been compared to the Indian legend Yuvraj Singh. Speaking on the same Dube revealed that he is happy to contribute to the team’s cause in their first win of the tournament. He also said that his massive contribution to the team was an honor for him and that he is trying to focus on the basics of the game.

“Many people told me that I bat like him (Yuvraj Singh). As the situation demands, as the captain and coach tell me. We were looking for the first win and I am really happy that I contributed to the team. It’s an honor for me. I am more focused this time and focusing on basics,”- Dube further added.
