‘Shivam dube genbaazo ko le Doobe’- Twitter hails Shivam Dube and Robin Uthappa’s sensational power-hitting

Chennai are currently squaring up against Bangalore in the 22^nd match of the Indian T20 League 2022 on Tuesday at Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy. Chennai came into this game on the back of four consecutive losses.

They have made the worst possible start to their campaign in the history of the competition. On Tuesday, Ravindra Jadeja and Co. desperately needed to win a game to bounce back in the tournament. However, once again, the Men in Yellow put in a disappointing show with the bat in the power play overs.

Ruturaj Gaikwad (17 off 16), yet again, had a forgettable outing with the bat, while Moeen Ali got run-out after scoring just 3 runs in 8 balls. At 6.4 overs, Chennai were at 36 for 2. At that stage, it looked like the team will, once again, suffer a collapse. However, what followed was a sensational ball-striking display from Shivam Dube and Robin Uthappa.

At 36 for 2, Shivam Dube joined hands with Robin Uthappa, and the duo steadily built a partnership. They started off slowly before wreaking havoc with the bat. Both put an exhibition of sixes and stitched a sensational 165 run-partnership for the third wicket.

Robin Uthappa hit 4 fours and 9 sixes en route to his 50-ball 88-run knock. On the other hand, Shivam Dube didn’t spare a single bowler either. He was pretty severe on Wanindu Hasaranga and never allowed him to build any pressure.

He played till the very last ball of the innings and remained unbeaten on 95 off 46 balls, a knock which was studded with 5 fours and 8 sixes. Thanks to those valuable contributions, Chennai managed to notch a huge score of 216 runs in the first innings. It’s currently the highest score posted by a team in this year’s edition of the Indian T20 League.

The heart-warming partnership between Moeen Ali and Shivam Dube impressed one and all. A lot of cricket pundits and fans heaped praise on the duo for exhibiting a sensational partnership.
