Mohammed Shami is currently busy playing for Gujarat Titans (GT) in the ongoing IPL. On 13 April, GT were in action against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Mohali. It was a thrilling finish to the game as GT won the match on the second-last ball. Thus, GT won the match by six wickets and it was the second loss for PBKS this season.

GT’s Mohit Sharma won the Player of the Match award for his superb bowling performance. However, after the match, an image has now gone viral where Mohammed Shami was seen smiling with the Bollywood actress, Preity Zinta. Preity Zinta is one of the owners of the Punjab franchise since the inception of the tournament.

Speaking of the match, PBKS batted first and scored 153 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. For PBKS, Matthew Short was the highest run-scorer with 36 runs off 24 balls. For GT, Mohit Sharma picked up two wickets for 18 runs in four overs. Apart from him, Mohammed Shami grabbed one wicket for 44 runs in four overs. In reply, GT chased down the target in 19.5 overs and won the match by six wickets. 

Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami played for PBKS from 2019 to 2021. So, he got the opportunity to represent the franchise as Preity Zinta was the owner at that time also. After the win at the post-match presentation, GT skipper, Hardik Pandya said:  "To be very honest, i would not appreciate the game to go this close from the situation we were in. There was definitely a lot for us to learn from this game. That's the beauty of sports, it's never over till it's over. So we will go back to the drawing board. I think we can take a couple more risks in the middle overs. The wicket was good but because of the hardness of the soil and wicket, the ball was getting dried up. Not a big fan of taking the game to the last over."
