Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has finally come up with a response and lashed out at the critics who were targeting him a few days back by saying that he was laughing at Gautam Gambhir. All this happened when Shahid Afridi was delivering a statement about Gautam Gambhir during a TV show before the match between India and Pakistan in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022.
Two renowned TV channels, AAJ TAK of India and SAMAA TV of Pakistan were producing a joint show on air having Harbhajan Singh and Shahid Afridi on the panel. Meanwhile, Afridi was asked about his relationship with the Indian cricketers. In his response of which he said he shares cordial relations with them. Subsequently in his comment, Afridi went on to claim that nobody in the Indian team likes Gautam Gambhir.
"It's not like I have had a fight with any of the Indian players. Yes, sometimes there are some arguments with Gautam Gambhir on social media. And I think that Gautam is a sort of character which no one likes even in the Indian team," said Afridi.
These remarks from Afridi sparked controversy over social media and former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh also happened to be at the receiving end of the anger of the Indian Cricket Fans. Notably, Harbhajan was a part of this show from the Indian side whereas Afridi was representing Pakistan on SAMAA TV.
Just after the statement from Afridi, cameras caught Harbhajan Singh looking down and laughing. This reaction from Bhajji didn’t go down well with the Indian fans and they started questioning his integrity towards cricket and loyalty towards India as well.

Responding to critiques, Harbhajan Singh has come up with a strong reply and fierce opinion of his stand on the issue.
"These people are here just to have fun at somebody else's expense. Their job is to needle in other people's lives. I don't need to give any clarification to anyone. What Gautam and I share and what our bond is, I don't need to say anything to anyone. Let them come up with assumptions. But at the same time, I would like to advise all these people. 'Please be humans, don't behave like animals. Do you even know the context? Curd had fallen on my feet which is why I laughed. But you guys wouldn't know because you guys were only looking at my face. I stand with every Indian player and it doesn't matter to me what anyone says on social media. Gautam is my brother and my heart beats for India," said Harbhajan Singh on Sports Tak.
"I just want to say... don't ever test me if I'm Indian or not. I am a very proud Indian and I don't need anyone's certificate. I know what my conscious is. I am what I am because of India. So all those who think that I was laughing at Gautam, no. You have seen throughout my career that if anyone goes after my teammates, I go after them. My daughter was completely taken out of context and you guys are connecting it to what Afridi said. Gautam, Dhoni, Yuvi, or anyone else is like my family. I don't need to prove it to anyone. If you want to troll me, it's up to you," the former legendary spinner added later.
