Shikhar Dhawan is currently out of contention for team India after the ODI series in Bangladesh. He failed miserably in that tour as Dhawan scored just 18 runs in three matches. However, he was already out of contention in both the T20I and Test format. He also opened up in an interview in 2022 after getting dropped from the T20I setup.

Now, an image of Shikhar Dhawan has gone viral where he was seen in a Police costume. Fans went crazy and shared their views on social media. However, during that interview, Dhawan said that maybe he was lacking something and that’s why he will make a comeback when the time will be right.

Speaking to Sports Tak, the Indian batter said: "To be honest. I don't feel any disappointment as such. I feel that there is a time for everything and maybe it's not my time. Maybe I lack something that I haven't been able to do too well. So worries, I gave my best and that's what matters. Till the time I am happy and content, that is all I care about. It's not like if my name doesn't come, I will be affected or anything like that. I am in a very good space; I am doing my best".

However, he is currently preparing for the upcoming edition of the Indian T20 League in 2023. Shikhar Dhawan will play for the Punjab franchise as the captain of the side. In 2022, the Punjab franchise bought him for INR 8.25 Crores. So, it will be a huge task for him this time around as a skipper. Before getting dropped from the ODI squad, Dhawan was also given leadership duties in the ODI format as senior players like Rohit Sharma were rested.

During that interview, Dhawan also said that he will be ready for any opportunity where the southpaw batter can play for team India. He said: “If the opportunity provides then why not? When I play in the Indian T20 League, I try my best to perform. And if I do well there, I might get a chance. Rest is up to the selectors… what their thought process is, what is their vision. Like I said, if it comes, great, but even if it doesn't, that's also fine. I am keeping myself fit and strong and whenever I get the opportunity, I am ready for it."
