Ravindra Jadeja made a comeback to team India on 9 February 2023 when they took on Australia in the first match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The match took place in Nagpur. Australia won the toss and opted to bat first. So, fans were eagerly waiting to see Jadeja in action with the ball.

However, when he came up to bowl his first over, the former India cricketer, Sanjay Manjrekar was doing the commentary. Seeing the star all-rounder coming up to bowl, Manjrekar welcomed him back to the international after a long gap due to his injury. Ravindra Jadeja suffered a knee injury during the Asia Cup 2022.

“I was eagerly waiting to make a comeback and play for India.” – Ravindra Jadeja

Both Sanjay Manjrekar and Ravindra Jadeja have a great history between them. It started in 2019 before India vs New Zealand semi-final clash in the ODI World Cup. He said that Jadeja is a ‘bits and pieces player’. In reply to that, Jadeja tweeted: “Still, I have played twice the number of matches you played and I’m still playing. Learn to respect people who have achieved. I have heard enough of your verbal diarrhea Sanjay Manjrekar.” But, in the semi-final against the Kiwis, Ravindra Jadeja played a 77-run knock. After that innings, Sanjay Manjrekar claimed that he just rippled him apart today.

In a tweet, Manjrekar said: “Bits and by pieces, he just rippled me apart today. By bits and by pieces, he just proved me wrong on all fronts. But this is Ravindra Jadeja we have not seen very often. Today, he was brilliant, economical with the ball, and the familiar celebration.” However, ahead of the series opener, Ravindra Jadeja shared his excitement about his comeback to international cricket.

He said: “I was eagerly waiting to make a comeback and play for India. I had been struggling with my knee for some time, so surgery was needed. I am very excited and feel good that after more than 5 months I am in the Indian jersey. I am lucky to have got the chance back. There were many ups and downs in the journey because it is not easy if you stay from cricket for 5 months.” So, fans went crazy after the former cricketer welcome him during the first match.
