All eyes were on the Bangalore franchise as they took on Delhi in their first match of the ongoing Women’s T20 League. Top players like Meg Lanning, Shafali Verma, Smriti Mandhana, and Elisse Perry were in action from both teams. So, fans were expecting an interesting contest between the franchises.

Speaking of the match, Mandhana won the toss and opted to bowl first. For Delhi, the skipper Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma came out as the openers. But, the Bangalore bowlers were all over the place as the Delhi openers put up a solid partnership of 162 runs for the first wicket in 14.3 overs.

Delhi defeated Bangalore by 60 runs in the Women’s T20 League

Meg Lanning scored 72 runs off 43 balls, including 14 fours. While the young India batter, Shafali Verma smashed 84 runs off 45 balls, including 10 fours and four sixes. Then, Marizanne Kapp scored 39* runs off 17 balls, including three fours and three sixes. She batted at a staggering strike rate of 229.41. Along with them, Jemimah Rodrigues scored 22* runs off 15 balls, including three boundaries. Thus, they put up a mammoth total of 223 runs for two wickets in 20 overs. For Bangalore, only Heather Knight was the star of the show with the ball. She grabbed two wickets for 40 runs in three overs.

In reply, the skipper Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine came out for the chase, But, all batters crumbled under the pressure as Bangalore managed only to score 163 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. Mandhana scored 35 runs off 23 balls, including five fours and one six while Ellyse Perry scored 31 runs off 19 balls, including five fours. Along with them, only Heather Knight and Megan Schutt scored 34 and 30* runs respectively. For Delhi, Tara Norris was the star of the show as she grabbed five wickets for 29 runs in four overs. Shikha Pandey and Alice Capsey scored one and two wickets respectively. Thus, Delhi defeated Bangalore by 60 runs and handed them a huge loss.
