Despite there being another ODI left to be played, South Africa have already won the series as they beat India in the first two ODIs of the three match series. It wouldn't be an overstatement to say that the visitors looked absolutely clueless in both the one-day games.

The Bavuma-led side looked really comfortable in both the games and outplayed India. Former South Africa spinner Imran Tahir believes that India were overconfident coming into the South African tour which has cost them both, the Test series as well as the ODI series. It is to be noted that the Proteas won the three-match Test series by 2-1.

“I don’t judge any team but India is a very good side and this South African team is just growing up and India misjudged them and they were overconfident that they can defeat this team easily and this is the main reason for Indian side defeat,” said Imran Tahir after the completion of World Giants’ match against Asia Lions. He then went on to praise South Africa as well.

The former Proteas spinner felt that this series win was very special as it came against India, who have been dominating world cricket currently. He felt that the hosts took good advantage of their home conditions.

“India dominating world cricket in Test and one day both from last 4 to 5 years but this Proteas team played very well and they took good advantage of their home conditions and turned it into victory. This is the biggest victory than anything I believe this win is very special as this team is too young and they beat the nation who is dominating both formats for a long time. SA played so well and locked both series," he added.

After beating the visitors by 31 runs in the first ODI, South Africa beat them by seven wickets in the second ODI on Friday. Thus, the final 50-over game is a dead rubber, and will be played on Sunday. India would want to salvage some pride and end the tour on a high.
