Ruwi Rangers were absolutely ruthless on the night of the finals of the inaugural edition of the Oman D20 League. The Rangers beat Darsait Titans by a whopping margin of 80 runs to clinch their maiden title on Thursday (January 6). It was a dominating performance with both bat and ball in hand. Batting first, the Rangers posted a challenging total of 175 onboard.

Khalid Kail top scored with 49 runs. There were also handy contributions from Wasim Ali, and Naseem Khushi as the duo’s 26 and 22 runs respectively helped the Rangers finish well.

Later, with the ball in hand, Rangers bowlers led by Muhammad Nadeem and Jitenkumar Ramanandi bundled out Titans for just 95 runs. The Titans batters could not get any sort of momentum in the innings. Barring Khurram Khan, who top-scored with 34, the rest of the batters were mostly dismissed for a single-digit score.

The Titans, for their part, did fabulously well in the league stage of the competition. There were several contributions from the players in the batting and bowling department. However, on the nights of the finals, not a single player could play a defining match-winning knock. The side failed to be competitive against a rampaging Rangers.

Meanwhile, the champions of the inaugural edition managed to bring the A-game on the D-day. Rangers topped the group stage and yet again showed their class against Titans. The Rangers’ strength was batting and it clicked when they needed it the most. In the bowling, Ramanandi and Nadeem picked wickets in each of the games.

In the batting, Khushi, Khalid Kail, and Wasim Ali managed to contribute well in all of the games. In the end, it was a good collective effort by the Rangers that enabled them to lift the title.
