'Ruturaj a one season wonder?' - Fans troll Ruturaj Gaikwad for getting run out against Kolkata

The Chennai-Lucknow game is one of the most awaited clashes. Fans were eagerly waiting to watch these two teams battle it out at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. It was the Rahul-led side that won the toss and elected to field first.

Thus, Chennai's fans were excited to watch their blue-eyed boy Ruturaj Gaikwad go about his business. After scoring a duck in his side's first game against Kolkata, the experts expected him to go on to score a lot of runs on Thursday. However, that wasn't meant to be as he was once again dismissed for a low score.

To make matters worse, he was run out. It was the third over when an unbelievable throw by Ravi Bishnoi forced the opener to prematurely return to the pavilion. During the fourth ball, Gaikwad missed the ball and there was a huge LBW appeal.

The Umpire didn't give it out but the batter was wandering out of his crease in an attempt to steal a run. Bishnoi was sharp as he attempted a direct hit and succeeded in the same. This meant that Gaikwad was run out for 1 and yet again failed to get going in the Indian T20 league 2022. He has only been able to score one run in this edition so far.

Several fans took to Twitter to express their disappointment over Gaikwad's runout. Some people spoke about how his misery in this tournament hasn't seemed to stop. Nevertheless, Robin Uthappa and Moeen Ali continued to play the big shots as the veteran Indian opener got to his fifty as well. It will be exciting to see how many runs Chennai end up scoring in the first innings.
