Pakistan batter found taking advantage vs Zimbabwe (Image Source: Twitter)
Batters now think twice or thrice before taking unfair advantage at the non-striker’s end, all thanks to Deepti Sharma’s epic non-striker run-out during the third game between India and England in September. Since then, the batters in both men's and women’s cricket have been staying within the crease during crunch situations.
An image of Virat Kohli staying within the crease even when India required 2 runs off the last ball during the Pakistan clash went viral right after the match. However, during the Men in Green’s nightmare loss against Zimbabwe on October 27, Thursday, the non-striker Mohammad Wasim Jr was spotted taking an advantage of about 2 inches at the other end when the team required 3 runs off the last ball.
Last ball of the most intense match but Kohli didn't leave the crease. A similar situation for the Pakistan team in yesterday's match but their non-striker was 2 steps ahead of the line. A renowned analyst on Twitter, known for his skills and accuracy, pointed out the difference and said that the Pakistani batters were breaching the law when the bowler bowled the last ball of the match. However, it was Zimbabwe who clinched an epic win by just 1 run against a mighty Pakistan team.
Here is the tweet:
Most fielders do it anyway, but extra smart by @SRazaB24 to pick the striker's end for the final ball runout to beat Pakistan. Wasim had left the non-striker's end before Evans leaped into his delivery stride, huge start. Raza's best option for a runout was always striker's end. pic.twitter.com/8XaQyTvau9

‘Clear breach of rules by Pakistan’
Fans, who interacted with the analyst’s tweet, said that it was a clear break of the law and added that the Pakistan cricketers must be penalised for the same. Indian fans, on the other hand, pointed out the difference between Wasim and Kohli and said that the Indian giant was miles ahead of all in terms of following the rules.
Concerning the match, after successfully defending 130 runs, the Zimbabwean skipper Craig Ervine said that it was a special victory for the team and country. Further, the skipper added that their aim coming into the World Cup was to play well against the top teams.
“So special. Especially for the work we did to get into the Super 12s. We did not want our tournament to end there. We wanted to come in and play some really good cricket against top teams and we did that exceptionally well today,” Ervine said after the epic match.
As it stands, let us take a look at how fans reacted to Wasim taking an unfair advantage at the non-striker’s end:

That’s pure against the spirit of the game.

why has this not exploded ?? This is the thing that literally is against the spirit of the game. Taking unfair advantage knowing that even few inches can matter in the run out. How shameful !!

I wish someone would run out, the non-striker for backing up too far on the last ball when 2 needed in 1.
