The southpaw was spotted with a heavy strap and an ice pack on his right knee as he was having a conversation with his teammates in the stands. Despite having a strap on his knee, Pant looked in a cheerful mood and this might come as a relief to fans who are afraid that the injury might be something big.

India reached Australia in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja due to injuries and Mohammed Shami, who replaced the injured pacer, produced a stellar comeback as he defended 11 runs and also picked 3 wickets in the final over.

Many opine that Pant’s injury may not be that serious while a few fear that him getting ruled out of the showpiece event can be a nightmare for team India. Dinesh Karthik, who is playing the role of a finisher, failed to capitalize on the opportunity as he scored only 20 runs in the match.

India were told to bat first in the match and both KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav reached the fifty-run landmark in the match and helped India put on a total of 186 for the loss of 7 wickets. Aaron Finch, the Australian skipper was the lone fighter for the Kangaroos as he scored 76 runs before he made his way back to the dressing room.

However, it was all about Virat Kohli and Shami in the final over as the latter picked up 3 wickets and also produced a run out to defend to bowl Australia out for 180 runs. The Indian giant, Kohli, grabbed a one-handed stunner off Shami against Patt Cummins in the final over and grabbed the attention alongside the pacer.
