Delhi skipper, Rishabh Pant isn’t having a great time on the field or off it. Under his leadership, he couldn’t help the team reach the playoffs in the Indian T20 League 2022. Delhi finished at fifth position on the ladder with 7 wins in 14 matches.
In a recent report, it has been revealed that Pant has also been conned by a Haryana cricketer, named Mrinank Singh. The 24-year-old was duped of Rs.1, 63,00,000 last year in February and Pant had filed a complaint on the same. It has been understood that the same cricketer has recently arrested for duping a businessman by offering him expensive watches and mobile phones at cheaper rates.
He cheated the businessman of INR 6 lakhs and, thus was arrested by the Juhu police. Last week, The Saket Court issued a notice to the Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai to present the accused. Mrinank Singh had earlier told Pant that he had started a business of buying and selling luxury goods. He claimed that he could get the luxury watches and jewelry at discounted prizes. Reportedly, Pant paid Rs 36,25,120 for a Crazy Colour Watch, alongside Rs 62,60,000 for a Richard Mille watch.
“In January 2021, Mrinank told Pant and Solanki that he had started a business of buying and selling luxury watches, bags, jewellery, etc. He gave references to several cricketers to whom he claimed to have sold the goods. He falsely represented to Pant and his manager that he could procure luxury watches and other accessories for them at good discounts and very cheap prices” the complaint stated.
“Believing in the story of the accused, Pant handed over a luxury watch and few jewellery items in the month of Feb 2021 to the accused, that were purchased by him for Rs 65,70,731/- (Sixty Five Lakh Seventy Thousand Seven Hundred Thirty One only) for resale (sic),” the complaint added.
