The last few days haven't really been great for Delhi. Despite beating Punjab rather convincing, they have had a lot of COVID-19 cases in their camp. This has dented the preparations for their campaign.
Earlier, their physio Patrick Farhart had tested positive for COVID-19. After which, their star all-rounder Mitchell Marsh also fell prey to the deadly virus as well. To make matters worse. Another player from their side had tested positive ahead of their encounter against the Punjab-based franchise.
In what comes as frightening news to all the fans, a family member of Ricky Ponting has tested positive as well. It is to be noted that the legendary Aussie cricketer is the head coach of the franchise. They took to Twitter to convey the same. In their official statement, they also stated that the family member has now been moved into isolation.
"OFFICIAL STATEMENT: A family member of Delhi Head Coach Ricky Ponting has tested positive for COVID-19. The family has now been moved into an isolation facility and is being well taken care of" read the Tweet posted by the Delhi-based franchise. After which, they also stated that Ponting has tested negative. In a series of Tweets, they said that the Delhi head coach wouldn't be present on the ground for their upcoming game against Rajasthan, which is set to take place on April 22.

"He will, therefore, not be present at the ground for tonight’s game against Rajasthan. The franchise requests for Ponting and his family's privacy to be respected in the current scenario." They added. Thus, this resulted in a lot of unrest among the fans. However, fans of the franchise would hope that the Rishabh Pant-led side forgets all of this, and win their upcoming game against the Rajasthan-based franchise.
