Bangladesh then went on to face India in the finals of the trophy and eventually lost the match. The video of the final over heroics from Dinesh Karthik that was uploaded by the cricket board of Sri Laka is still getting immense views. The match saw a huge uproar from the Sri Lankan fans who took it to the streets to celebrate India's victory.

After almost 1400 days, Sri Lanka had the perfect opportunity to avenge Bangladesh for its incivility back in 2018. The Sri Lankan boys clinched the win against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup 2022 and thrashed them out of the ongoing Asia Cup. The 2018 Nidahas Trophy was not the only reason behind the rivalry. Before the match, the Sri Lankan captain opined that the Bangladesh team has only two world-class bowlers. This did not go well with the Bangladesh coach Khaled Mahmud who took on the skipper and said that the Sri Lankan team does not even have a world-class bowler.

The war of words further ignited the fire and forced former Sri Lanka veteran Mahela Jayawardena to come up with a tweet motivating the Sri Lankan team. Post victory, he lauded the team for the victory and rated it "world-class" in what was an indirect dig at Khaled Mahmud.

The Sri Lankan players replied with the bat as they chased the target of 184 runs and made it to the next round of the tournament. A few players then came up with the 'Naagin Dance' and put an end to the chaos.

Let's take a look at some of the tweets that users came up with after witnessing the same:
