Pakistan has produced a lot of quality fast bowlers throughout their cricketing history. Pacers like Imran Khan, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis from the 90s to Shoaib Akhtar in the early 2000s and Mohammad Amir and Shaheen in the late 2010s, the Men in Green have always had a high-quality stock of fast bowlers to choose from.

At the same time, however, many promising Pakistan fast bowlers have vanished from the cricket stage after showing signs of quality. Mohammad Asif who was referred to as ‘talent wasted’ by Wasim Akram along with Umar Gul and Ameer did not manage to reach the same heights as others.

One such player who befalls in the second category is Junaid Khan. Having made his Pakistan debut in 2011 the left-arm quick managed to play 107 international games in a career spanning eight years. His best bowling figure of 4/12 came against the India side at Chepauk, Chennai in 2012. In that particular match, he managed to dismiss Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh.

A video of the same has been shared by Junaid Khan with the caption, “I think this was my career’s turning point. What do you think?” Twitter users had mixed reactions to this tweet with some calling it one of the best opening spells and others pointing to Junaid’s lack of performance in other games.

In the second game of that very ODI series, Junaid Khan came up with another brilliant spell, taking Kohli’s and Gautham Gambhir’s wickets. Not just that but the pacer also helped Pakistan win their first-ever bilateral series win in South Africa. The left-arm quick defended nine runs in the last over to win a game for Pakistan in South Africa.

After this ODI series, however, the pacer was in an out of Pakistan team and never achieved the same heights as he did against India and South Africa.
